Resize Video (9:16, 1:1, 16:9)

Turn a video into vertical 9:16 for Shorts and Reels, square 1:1 or wide 16:9. Choose to fill the frame or show everything; the file never leaves your device.

MP4 · MOV · WebM · MKV — Your file is never uploaded; it is processed on this device only. No sign-up, no watermark, no limits.

How to resize a video

  1. Press “Choose a video file” and pick the video.
  2. Choose an aspect ratio: 9:16 for Shorts, Reels and TikTok, 1:1 for the Instagram feed, 16:9 for regular YouTube videos.
  3. Choose how to fit: “Fill the frame” crops the edges, “Show everything” keeps the whole picture and adds black bars.
  4. Press “Resize”, wait for about the length of the video, then save it with the download button.

Which ratio to choose

Fill the frame or show everything

Turning a wide video vertical means giving something up, because the shapes differ. Fill the frame enlarges the video until the frame is full and crops what spills over at the sides. It looks best when the person or the key content is in the middle. Show everything shrinks the whole picture to fit and leaves the rest black. Choose it when captions or a scoreboard near the edges must not be cut off.

It takes as long as the video

Changing the shape means drawing every frame again and compressing it again. This tool uses the browser's own recorder: it plays the video and records it at the new size, so a one-minute clip takes about a minute. Keep this tab open and in front while it works. The result is an MP4 if your browser can record MP4, otherwise a WebM. The sound is recorded along with the picture.

Tips

To speed a clip up or slow it down use Change speed; to pull a still for the cover use Save a frame.

Output quality

The result is HD with 720 pixels on the short side. That is enough for Shorts, Reels and TikTok on a phone screen, and it uploads quickly. If the original is smaller than that, it gets larger but not sharper. If the computer is busy with other heavy work while this runs, the recorder can miss frames and the result may stutter, so closing other programs for a moment helps. If the original has no sound, the result carries an empty, silent audio track. At the end the file is tidied once more so that players can jump straight to any position on the seek bar.

FAQ

Why does it take as long as the video?

The video is played and recorded again at the new size inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the trade-off is waiting for the playing time.

What format do I get?

MP4 if your browser can record MP4, otherwise WebM.

Is there a watermark?

No. There is no watermark, sign-up or usage limit.

Can I choose where it is cropped?

It always fits around the center. If something must not be cut off, choose “Show everything”.
