Change Video Speed
Slow a video down or speed it up, from 0.5× to 2×, and save it. The sound changes along with the picture, and the file never leaves your device.
MP4 · MOV · WebM · MKV — Your file is never uploaded; it is processed on this device only. No sign-up, no watermark, no limits.
How to change video speed
- Press “Choose a video file” and pick the video.
- Choose a speed. Below 1 is slower, above 1 is faster.
- Press “Change speed” and keep the tab open until it finishes.
- Press the download button when it appears.
Which speed to choose
- 0.5× — the clip becomes twice as long. Use it for exercise form, dance moves or the hand work in cooking, where detail matters.
- 0.75× — for a fast-talking lecture or a video in a language you are learning.
- 1.25× and 1.5× — tighten slow stretches in explainers and vlogs. Speech stays easy to follow in this range.
- 2× — half the length. Use it for assembling, cleaning or drawing, when you want to show the whole process quickly.
Length and processing time
The new length is the original length divided by the speed. A 3-minute video becomes 2 minutes at 1.5× and 6 minutes at 0.5×. This tool plays the video at the chosen speed inside your browser and records it again, so processing takes as long as the new video. Keep this tab open and in front while it works.
Quality and format
Changing speed means compressing every frame again, so the result is not bit-identical to the original, but it keeps the original resolution (up to 1920 pixels on the long side). The result is an MP4 if your browser can record MP4, otherwise a WebM. A slowed clip can look slightly choppy if the original was shot at 30 frames per second. For smooth slow motion, shooting in your phone's slow-motion mode works best.
What it is good for
- Fitting a short-form limit — bring a clip that runs a little long under the limit at 1.25×.
- Showing a process quickly — halve making, tidying or travel scenes at 2×.
- Studying movement — slow a golf swing or an instrument passage to 0.5× and look closely.
For long videos, first keep only the part you need with Trim video and the wait gets shorter. To make it vertical use Resize.
While it works
The progress bar shows how far the original has played. During processing the sound goes only to the recorder, not to your speakers, so you can use it in a quiet place. If the computer is busy with other heavy work the recorder can miss frames, so close other programs for a moment. Speeding up only part of a video, or using different speeds for different sections, is not something this tool does; cut the sections separately, change each one and join them in an editing program. The original file is not changed; a new file with the speed at the end of its name is created.
FAQ
Does the sound speed up too?
Yes. The sound follows the speed you choose and is saved with the picture.
How long does it take?
As long as the new video. A 2-minute clip takes about 1 minute at 2× and about 4 minutes at 0.5×.
Can I go faster than 2×?
One pass goes from 0.5× to 2×. Run a 2× result through again at 2× to get 4×.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
